365 #47 “Its Yer Sel” Musician Andrew Valentine Chat/ Top5 Movie OST/ Glasgow Film & Comic Con Grado Interview

47Well this week we have a chockablock episode. We have left the comfort of the Podcave to go back to Studio 1 (Chris’s Office) to Interview and chat to local Musician and Recording Artist Andrew Valentine.

Andrew stops by to listen to our usual brand of trademarked News that has spiked our interest and he shares his views on the subjects as he is also a bit of a Film Comic Geek. He gives us his cheeky thoughts on Suicide Squad before we move onto Pimping his work.

We were lucky enough to get a couple of his tracks to play on the Episode leading in and out of the chat we had about his work so far and where his goals will take him. You can buy these tracks on iTunes

Adventure, Hawaiian Style!!

Adventure, Hawaiian Style!!

Image Comics’ Aloha, Hawaiian Dick #5 is the final issue in this mini series. This was one heck of a book to pick up sight unseen. But, writer B. Clay Moore does a superb job of giving the reader a brief synopsis of previous events. It is a good thing, too, because so many bodies drop and bullets fly before you reach the end that you’d feel like the book was written backwards, otherwise. It has that gritty, noir feel of a 1950’s detective show, but with more violence and blood. More

Marvelette Missives – Introducing The Runaways

Marvelette Missives – Introducing The Runaways

With so many comic book properties in the works for movies and television, I thought it might be a good idea to introduce (in a relatively non-spoilery way) properties that some people may not know much about. I’ll get things started with The Runaways, which was recently announced as receiving a full season order from Hulu. More

Dynamite’s Xena: Warrior Princess #5 is an interesting book. Coming from someone who rarely watched the show when it was on the air, I approached this as a new property that I’m getting introduced to and have been pleasantly surprised. More

Jim and Eric decide that it’s time to streamline the podcast and get back to the meat and cheese of it all.  Is it a return to legacy?  Is it a meat and potatoes approach to things?  Is it a Rebirth?!?!  Actually, it’s none of those because they kind of work it out a bit while recording.  I guess we’ll have to see where it all leads.  They still get together and talk every book that came out this week and Jim has even seen the Suicide Squad movie…but doesn’t really talk about it.  This is a Comic Book Podcast!  Enjoy!

Marvelette Missives – Kickin’ It Old School

Marvelette Missives – Kickin’ It Old School

I recently went to an old school comic con. If you’re lucky, you know what I’m talking about – a bunch of dealers crammed into a hall, maybe a couple of artists selling original sketches, but no celebrities or photo ops in sight. Sure, a few people showed up in costume (I think there was an actual costume contest at some point, though I didn’t stay for it), but it was primarily a crowd of comic book lovers looking for deals. I would say about 80% of the space was long boxes and most of what was on offer was golden, silver and bronze age issues with some current releases thrown in (especially ones with variant covers).
