Mighty Marvel Geeks 160: Slow Gets You Pulled Pork

Mighty Marvel Geeks 160: Slow Gets You Pulled Pork

Your Intrepid Trio is on cocked, locked, and ready to rock you with that Mighty Marvel News that you need! The show starts with a Kylan Rant. This is more or less a continuation from a story last week tied to the first four episodes of Marvel’s Iron Fist that he had watched. Mike and Eric join in and, be warned, they all take it there. Mike then follows up the rant with an article about how the show runner was not aware of the controversy of Finn Jones being cast as Danny Rand. They guys all have their say on this one, too! The news then moves to the MCU with an interesting article about how Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo were worried that they may have been fired when Thor and Hulk did not appear in Captain America: Civil War. Kylan then keeps it in the MCU with a piece about Chris Evans leaving the Living Legend behind after Avengers: Infinity War. He gives some great reasons and although we’ll hate to see him go, it is a great run! The news then moves to comics with Mike sharing an article about Jeff Lemire leaving Marvel. It seem like there’s a lot to this story, give it a listen and tell us what you think. Eric then wraps up the news segment with an article about the upcoming mega event Secret Empire and what it’ll mean for Marvel. Ultimately, we all agreed that we were tired of the nonstop crossover events. It has become too much. From there we talked about our POW(Picks Of the Week)!

We Be Geeks 210: World Of Color With Jeremy Colwell

This week, Brett and Julz are both MIA, so Mike and Derrick welcome comic book colorist Jeremy Colwell onto the podcast for an interview.  Jeremy is most recently known for the DC books Batman/TMNT, and He-Man/Thundercats.  We start off the interview with Jeremy describing his path to becoming a colorist, and how he started working for DC comics.  We asked Jeremy if he was nervous working with big name characters like Batman and He-Man, and what his favorite version of Batman is from a colorist perspective.  We discuss Jeremy’s thoughts on the Digital Age of coloring, some of his favorite characters to color, as well as his favorite Batman villains.

Next, we ask Jeremy about his favorite books that he has colored, as well as his favorite comics to read.  We discuss the surge of comic creators that has risen up in the Portland, Oregon area, and Jeremy’s experience meeting comics legend Marv Wolfman, before grilling him on his future projects.  We follow that with talk of delays in comics, then have a long discussion about conventions and fan interactions.

We finish of the episode by covering the various places that you can find Jeremy Colwell on the internet.

                                    Marvelette Missives – Hulk

Big things happened in the Marvel Universe late last year with Civil War II. In case you missed it, much like the original Civil War, all the Marvel heroes were at odds with each other, this time over the ability to stop or prepare for attacks and catastrophes before they happened (there’s an inhuman “seer” involved). Of course, the camps were “yes, this is great, let’s do it” vs “no, this is bad, these people have done nothing wrong yet”.  More
