GW1 Issue 131 – A League of Their Own

GW1 Issue 131 – A League of Their Own

After spending an entire day doing some heavy lifting, we recorded for the very first time from our future home at the Oddmall Outpost! We have a bit of a preview of what’s to come at this new, permanent location for oddness plus details about the next Oddmall, coming in just a couple weeks. In geek news, there were some good movie trailers released last week, plus there’s a big geek museum exhibit coming in the new year. Then we get into Justice League, with a spoilery discussion about what we thought was good, what needed fixing and whether it’s worth seeing.  More

      Coin Operated 189: California Love

      California Love

California is where Cody came back from his trip. He went to have fun at Disneyland especially on Mr. Toads’ Wild Ride. He also walked in the Super Hero Races being held that weekend.

The main draw of Disneyland compared to Disney World is the older rides and the more compact park. He really enjoyed how everything was in a smaller space and the seamless blend of each land.

      Beer and Brian

While Cody was in California, Brian stuck around in Orlando and got his beer on for the Orlando Beer Fest. He got the VIP to be able to drink early and enjoy some of the best beers before they ran out. His favorite Beer was a Peanut butter and chocolate Porter and he hated the #whitegirlwasted pumpkin spice.

      Justice League and Battle Front

We liked Justice League but hate EA. Like everyone else we joined the hating EA bandwagon. We talk about how EA a publicly traded company could care less about upsetting people and because they only answer to their stock holder.

Justice League was great. We enjoyed the movie because it was a pretty simple Super Hero Flick.

                              Thor: Ragnarok Non-Spoiler Review!

                              Written by Jason Brigger

                              Director: Taika Waititi
Writers: Eric Pearson and Craig Kyle
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett

Standalone Thor films have never really received the love that most other Avengers’ solo films receive and with good reason as the films, up to now, have been either been boring (original Thor) or pretty to watch but ultimately forgettable (Thor: The Dark World). Thor: Ragnarok opens in North America November 3, 2017 and hopes to change that by taking a new approach by using comedy to liven up the forgettable film series.

This time, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) must not only tangle with his mischievous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), but also Hela, the God of Death (Cate Blanchett) as she tries to continue what Odin (Anthony Hopkins) stopped her from doing centuries ago, rule the universe. Along the way, Thor must also escape a planet run by the creepy but fun dictator Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) and recruit a team of heroes looking for purpose and revenge. If this sounds a little like Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s because it is. More
