Tales from the Geek Side
Nov 15 2016
As we are starting to get close to shows taking their Thanksgiving/Mid-season break, I have started to wonder what shows will be sticking around and what new shows will move on to a second season. Supergirl got saved last year when it moved to the CW from CBS. But what shows this season on tv and Netflix have a chance?
I’ll be looking at Son of Zorn and Marvel’s Luke Cage, but I’m not the only one who’s been picking on the fall tv line-up debuts. I found this story written by Trevor Dueck and it served as the inspiration for my thoughts here.

What do you get when after a convention appearance gig turns out to be wildly unsuccessful and unpleasant, Smothered, a comedy horror film by John Schnieder. A group of cult horror icons, Kane Hodder, R.A. Mihailoff, Bill Moseley, Don Shanks, and Malcom Danare, find themselves persuaded to “haunt” a trailer park for the promise of $1,000 a piece for what should be relatively easy work. When they arrive they meet their employer – the trailer park’s owner – an unpleasant old bat named Agnes and her much more pleasant (at least to the eye) daughter DeeDee, who lives up to that name in the most obvious way. The group arrives at the park but soon discovers that there is more to the job than they had initially been expected and that their own lives are at risk. More

Welcome back everyone! Let’s start off with some gagety, the BatteryBot by Mimoco. Yes, I know there are many mobile battery backups for mobile devices out there but like their MimoBot USB drives, Mimoco’s BatteryBot has character. I would much rather spend the money on one with a design on it over one that is mono or duo toned in color. Go check out their kickstarter here. It is going to be so worth it, get on it now before the launch in June 2014. More

Oh how excited I am to deliver this news, MORE INFO ABOUT STAR WARS REBELS! I am stoked and wish I was at NYCC. A new trailer featuring and narrated by Dave Filoni gives us new insights into The Empire in Star Was Rebels. We also get the introduction of the a new villian, the Inquisitor, “tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights.” according to Filoni. Pablo Hidalgo, who hosted the panel, also introtuced new vehicles that will be used in the series: More

I hope everyone enjoyed our interview with Ashley Eckstein, I was exciting to hear Ahsoka almost had a Icelandic accent. Please check out Ashley’s site, Her Universe, and check out the fan girl of the day and the awesome selection of clothes for the female geeks out there. As Halloween appoaches, my wife and I are trying to get my daughter’s Wonder Woman costume together. Yes I am a proud daddy that she has chosen a superhero for this year. She wants me to dress with her but 1.) my Wonder Woman costume stopped fitting many years ago and 2.) I need to get new boots for my Jedi costume (I wonder if I should do a Kickstarter campaign). Wow, a lot has happened since the site was launched August 14th, 2012. Staff changes, format changes and more. If you asked me a year ago if the site would be like it is now, I would have said no. I have changed co-hosts, and after doing Episode 19 by myself, I knew if I had to, I would keep doing the show by myself. Thankfully Eric came along through the recruiting of Victoria. Shortly thereafter Marc and Jessica joined the fray. To them I say thank you. Format wise, we are still bringing you news in some manner, but we have columns for you geeks to read (please do; they are awesome), but instead of being a news feed type site like Yahoo! Entertainment or others, we are going to give the stories our voice. Meaning if all of us report on the same story, then you will have the multiple opinions just like if you were chatting with us.
