Coin Operated 190: Littlest Lumber Jack

Lumber Jack

Brian has embraced his new Nickname given to him by our YouTube buddy isuckcalfmuscles; The Littlest Lumber Jack. With that new nickname he will try and grow his beard as big as he can because the harsh winter days of Florida are coming. Bringing in these Winter Days were the Thanksgiving and Black Friday where the boys went and saw family. They did a little Black Friday shopping online and traveled for the majority of it.

Avengers

What Nerd Podcast isn’t complete with out a little talk about the Avengers Infinity Trailer where Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast talk about it as well. We see Bearded Cap which is awesome because Chris Evans looks hot in a beard, Scarlet Johansson as a Blonde Widow  and the biggest question question what is up with Thanos. We mostly talk about that because we know everyone has over analyzed and we don’t want to be those guys.

The Geeksterverse – Action Figure Covers

The Geeksterverse – Action Figure Covers

We’ve all seen alternate covers on comic books. They’re everywhere. At one time they were a very rare thing, usually reserved for big issues or special editions. I rarely fell for then. I always viewed them as a big money grab and would not fall to its wiles. Even if a favorite artist produced something really cool, I still denied myself. But, last year, something new came on the horizon. Along with alternate covers and ashcan editions we now have “action figure covers”. “What are action figure covers?” you ask? They are comic covers that look like action figures on card packaging. Think of what the Star Wars action figures look like. As a matter of fact, that is how I got introduced to the phenomenon. More

And of course, I’ll give you my review of Marvel’s Ant-Man, after I take you to some early comic book roots of the character.

George Perez Exclusive To Boom! Studios

George told while being interviewed by Comic Book Resources that Marvel and DC Comics have grown “more and more corporate driven”.

“Many of the characters I grew up with were turning into strangers whose adventures were determined by factors that had less and less to do with what made a good comic story and more to do with how these properties can be exploited for other purposes,” said George.

“There’s nothing wrong with that, I guess, but not something that I felt was particularly satisfying for me as a storyteller.” More
